The Department of Communication Research, Indian Institute of Mass Communication requires on an urgent basis 2 Research Officers for a period of six months on a contract basis on a Health Communication project. Research Officer (For the period of Six months)  

Job Description: This is a senior level research position. The research duties are those expected of an experienced researcher.

Key responsibilities will include:  

  • Directing and engaging in a research program
  • Analyzing the total research program and/or research support in a subject area
  • Supervising others in the research project and/or area  in order to provide technical support
  • Conceptualize a research problem and developing proposals.
  • Developing an inter-disciplinary research agenda in consultation with head of the department and other colleagues within the identified areas of research
  • Publishing outputs from research in academic journals.

You will be expected to have: 

  1. Master Degree in Communication Studies/Mass Communication or Social Sciences (Psychology, Sociology, Economics,) or Marketing/Management/ Sciences with four years of research experience/industry experience or M. Phil/ PhD (two years) with three years of research experience.
  2. Work experience is desirable in the area of health/development communication, Social marketing or development sector.
  3. Comprehensive and up to date knowledge of research within the subject related area.
  4. Good knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods is essential.
  5. Experience working in a PC environment including word processor and spreadsheet software applications. Experience with SPSS is necessary.
  6. A capacity to write research papers, make research presentations, and develop projects

            Total emoluments for the post would be Rs. 30,000/- per month.
