Research and Evaluation
A systematic study of communication has been an integral part of the Institute's academic pursuits. As the premier national institution in the field of communication, it is the responsibility of the Institute to undertake and promote high-quality research in the area of mass communication. With the rapid expansion of communication media, especially TV and radio, this assumes added importance and urgency. The first objective of the Institute, as given in the Articles of Association of IIMC Society, is “to organize training and research in the use and development of media of mass communication, with special reference to the requirements of socio-economic growth in the country.” The IIMC has undertaken many research projects and over the years, it has conducted several research studies for a number of national and international organizations and for governmental and for non-governmental bodies.
The IIMC’s research studies have been getting recognition in India and abroad. Many international organizations such as the AMIC, UNICEF, WHO, IAMCR, UNESCO Etc. have approached the Institute for undertaking research studies for them. Thus the IIMC has acquired the status of a premier centre in the field of communication/media research.
