Editor's Note Wide appreciation and valuable suggestions from the
family of Indian Information Service and other interested readers of
this Newsletter has encouraged us to bring out subsequent issues with
enriched contents and information. We thank all of them for their
support and unstinted encouragement. Since this Newsletter acts as a
platform for the Information Service holders to raise their voice for
the betterment of the service, we dedicate thisissue towards addressing
the common concerns of our service fraternity. In the era of information revolution and globalization, many of the talented young people like to pursue their career in the field of information management through opting for Indian Information Service. But the service has many deterring elements which makes it more of a service by fate rather than being one out of the choice. The dropout rate from the service is also very high. The problems of delayed promotions complicated by the non reviewing of the cadre, embarassing desiganations, uncertainty looming over the Prasar Bharati, problems of housing etc. are some of the issues which give an unpleasant aura to the service. Some of the recent developments have also added fuel into this fire of bewilderedness. If these apprehensions in the young minds are not addressed, it will not only repell the interested aspirants from the service but also hinder the development of the service itself. To infuse light into these pertinent issues we have interviewed many of the service seniors and with their able guidance present before you the challenges and opportunities facing our service in a balanced perspective. As the saying goes, strength lies in unity and this service has great future if the problems are correctly understood and addressed by the united batallion of service holders. We hope this effort will strengthern the bond within the service. Optimist sees
opportunity in every calamity!
Pessimist sees calamity in every opportunity!! - Ulaganathan P |
