Professor (Dr.) Nongmaithem Sushil Kumar Singh is the Regional Director. He joined as a Professor on 8th May, 2023 and assumed the charge of the Regional Director of the North Eastern Regional Campus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication at Aizawl in Mizoram on 6th of September, 2023. A science (Botany) graduate from Manipur University (Imphal College) (1993), he studied Mass Communication from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar in Haryana and obtained his M.Sc. and Ph. D. degrees in 1996 and 2010 respectively. He got his early education from Ramlal Paul High School, Imphal in Manipur. Professor Sushil Singh joined Guru Jambheshwar University in 1997 as a Lecturer and went on to become a Professor in 2016.

Before joining the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Prof. N. Sushil K. Singh was working as the Chairman of the Department of Communication Management & Technology Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar in Haryana and also looked after the Department of English as the Chairman. During his tenure, he moved on with starting a four-year Bachelor course in Mass Communication in 2021 in compliance with NEP-2020. He already had the experience of working as Course Coordinator for Bachelor in Mass Communication (BMC) through Distance Education which he had developed lessons for study and conducted Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs) for Bachelors and Masters Courses in Mass Communication for the Directorate of Distance Education. Prof. Sushil Singh had also worked as Course Coordinator of Orientation Programmes run by UGC Academic Staff College.  Prof. Singh was also a member of Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA), for distance education courses.

Professor Sushil Singh had worked his Ph.D. in the areas of news studies and so far guided successfully about a dozen research scholars who did their studies in various topics of Media and Communication including intertextual studies, editorializing and social and new media.  He had supervised hundreds of dissertations in Communication and Media research as a part of the curriculum of master’s degree in Mass Communication. He has several publications in research journals and book chapters. In 1996, which he finished his M.Sc. degree in Mass Communication; he had cleared UGC-NET in Journalism and Mass Communication and State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) for Lectureship in the subject conducted by Kurukshetra University for the state of Haryana.

 As the Regional Director of the North Eastern Regional Campus of the esteemed Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Prof. N. Sushil K. Singh has shouldered the duties and responsibilities of taking the institute forward in the realms of the north eastern states of India in promoting the education and studies of mass communication. Though there are multitudes of challenges because of geographical locations, multi-ethnicity and multi-language and dialects, the new Regional Director is committed to achieve the mission and vision of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication for the north eastern states of India.
